Turkey has largely finalised the acquisition model for its T-Loramids surface-to-air missile (SAM) programme after confusion over whether it had abandoned a direct purchase of systems, including offset commitments by the bidding companies.
The Turkish SSM (Procurement agency) has rr-launched the T-LORAMIDS tender formulating the acquisition of 12 missile firing units. A new clause is added however, ,requiring the bidders to simultaneously pitch a co-development model for a more advanced SAM. Runners up for the previous tender included Russia's S-300, US Patriot PAC-3, Europe's Eurosam Aster 30 SAMP/T, and China's HQ-9. Israeli/US Arrow systems was rejected due to political grounds.
