The Brazilian Defense Minister, Walter Braga Netto, has authorized the acquisition of two Airbus A330 MRTT refuellers/transport aircraft. The document grants, on an exceptional basis, the exemption from the requirement of commercial, technological or industrial bidding and compensation for the acquisition of defense product by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), within the framework of the KC-X3 project.
The urgency of the acquisition is justified, among other reasons, for dealing with the public health emergency and humanitarian support efforts. The competent authorities of the body in question will be responsible for monitoring and supervising the resulting acts.
