The Guatemalan Army has launched a tender for the purchase of 1,700 rifles, caliber 5.56 X45mm, certified under the norm of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO, in English) for an investment amount of up to 80 million quetzals or 10 , 4 million dollars.
The tender, in charge of the Logistics Support Command, has been active since June 1 and offers will be received until July 12.
This would be the second relevant arms acquisition by Guatemala, in less than two years. In September 2019, the Guatemalan Army purchased 8,000 Galil SAR Córdova 13 rifles, caliber 5.56 by 45 millimeters, from the Colombian Military Industry (Indumil) for more than $ 10 million.
