Ecuador; Army purchases 12 boats from Israel

The Ecuadorian Army has acquired twelve new tactical boats to carry out military operations on its border with Colombia. The boats were sold by the Israeli company Elbit Systems, in a contract for approximately $ 7,900,000 that, in addition to the boats, includes communication systems and life jackets.

These boats are built in maritime aluminum and measure 8.35 meters long by 2.6 meters wide, with armor to withstand 5.56×45 and 7.62x51mm ammunition impacts, each one of them equipped with four 5.56×45 FN Herstal M-249 machine guns millimeters, being able to transport up to eight men with their respective equipment. These are the first Elbit boats to be operated by the Army.
