The Honduran Naval Force (FNH) received a Metal Shark Defiant 85 maritime patrol vessel within the framework of the naval cooperation program that the United States signed in 2017 with its allies in Central America, the Caribbean and South America for $ 16.1 million. With this new vessel, the Central American country reaffirms its naval power by having the most complete and modern fleet in the region, including two Damen Stan Patrol 4207 patrol boats, six Damen DI-1102 interceptor boats and one Israel Shipyards OPV-62M. .
The new vessel was christened Río Aguán, registration FNH-8502, and will be used to reinforce the patrol of the 220,000 square kilometers of the country’s maritime territory, especially the Honduran Caribbean.
The Defiant 85 has capacity for a crew of 10 people, is 85 feet long, reaches a speed of 25 knots and a range of six days.
