The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) of Mexico has undertaken an operational and administrative reorganization of the Army and Air Force of the country in order to improve the missions under its charge.
In this regard, the head of the Sedena, Luis Cresencio Sandoval , explained that the reorganization in the administrative branch aims to make a more agile management of the unit, with a new delegation of functions to its administrative bodies and to the Army
and Army commands. Air Force through the National Defense General Staff which, in turn, will have the functions of a Joint General Staff , although it will retain its same name “due to the sense of identity and permanence of its members.”
Meanwhile, in the operational sector, the functional structure of the Army and the Air Force was equated. The two commands will be subordinate to the Sedena and their head will follow the Secretary of National Defense who will exercise the command of the Armed Forces.
