Rear Admiral Antonette Wemyss-Gorman took office on January 21 as Chief of Staff of the Jamaica Defence Force replacing Lieutenant General Rocky R. Meade, who had held the post since 2016 and retired after 38 years of service.
The day before the transfer of command, Wemyss-Gorman, who held the rank of commodore, was promoted to rear admiral. For the rest, she is the first woman to occupy the highest position of the military leadership of that Caribbean island nation.
