Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov has called Ukraine’s possible use of military airfields in other countries “unwanted” and “potentially dangerous.”
“The defense ministry has already provided an explanation about [Ukraine’s] possible use of some other aerodromes for the sorties of warplanes. It is an unwanted and a potentially dangerous scenario,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
The development came after Poland agreed to immediately send its MiG-29 jets to the Ramstein Air Base in Germany to hand them over to the United States. The move will enable the operation of Ukrainian aircraft from Polish airfields amidst Russian threats to militarily counter any country that supports the Ukrainian Army.
On March 6, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that the use of airfields in neighboring countries by Ukrainian warplanes for the purposes of attacking Russian forces would be considered as the involvement of these countries into the armed conflict.
