Lieutenant Colonel Werner Kioe A Sen took over as interim commander of the National Army (Nationaal Leger) of Suriname, the official name of the Armed Forces of that South American nation.
Kioe A Sen, who has been serving as deputy commander since May 2021, succeeds Colonel Henri van Axeldongen, who is retiring. Previously, he was a commander in the Navy.
