Colombia; Army commissions second batch of 40 M1117 AFvs

Colombia has received a second batch of 40 4×4 AFV Textron Marine & Land Systems (TM&LS) M1117 armored vehicles, locally named Pegaso. These units are part of the purchase of a total of 145 second-hand vehicles, through the Excess Defense Articles (EDA) and Golden Sentry End-Use Monitoring (EUM) . The armored vehicles disembarked this week in the port of Santa Marta, as did the first 20 received in October 2021.

In January 2021, the Army Command signed the contract for this acquisition for approximate values of 3.9 million dollars.

The object of this contract was the payment of amendment for the transfer of M1117, destined for the Colombian Army, which include support services, acquisition of machinery, cargo transport services and maintenance, repair and installation services for the total of incorporated cars.

These M1117s are second-hand, including many that would have belonged to the US Military Police Corps, remembering that offers through the EDA are conditioned on their sale regardless of the state in which each of the cars are located.
