Colombian MoD has selected the Korean Aerospace Industries TA/FA-50 aircraft as its future advanced training aircraft with which it intends to replace its current fleet of Cessna A-37B aircraft, which are about to be definitively withdrawn from service, according to Infodefensa.com.
This decision comes months after a Colombian delegation, led by the Deputy Minister of Defense and the second commander of the Colombian Air Force, visited South Korea in the second half of last year.
Likewise, the selection of the South Korean aircraft is given in view of the approval, by the current government, of the Integral National Defense System (Siden), through which the equipment, systems and means required by the country’s Armed Forces for the fulfillment of the assigned constitutional missions would have already been chosen.
