Mexico; SEDENA request $37 million for personal arms this year

The Ministry of Defense (Sedena) of Mexico requested 37.1 million dollars from its counterpart in the Treasury, for the acquisition of 7,844 state-of-the-art weapons in order to equip the special bodies of the Army and the Mexican Air Force (FAM).

Sedena, led by Major General Luis Cresencio Sandoval, explained that its special units carry out specific missions in terms of security, protection of strategic facilities and military operations against organized crime. However, he warned that the armament that these units currently have is conventional.

It is considered that the morale of military personnel will be raised by having the weapons that meet the technical characteristics according to the development of their activities and will have greater skill in operational displacements.
