Revealing this during a visit to Berlin, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said: “Israel […] will play a part in building Germany’s new defense force, mainly in the field of air defense.

“The future possible deal [for the Arrow 3] has to do with our total commitment to the safety of Germany, to the safety of Europe, to the ability of liberal democracies to defend themselves.”

“Yes, there is the plan to buy Arrow 3, but nothing is signed,” reported Reuters, citing a German government source.

The specifications of the deal, including purchase price, were not disclosed.

Manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the Arrow 3 missile defence system can go beyond the earth’s atmosphere, where its warhead detaches to function as a ‘kamikaze’ satellite, or ‘kill vehicle’.

This vehicle then tracks and safely shoots down incoming nuclear, biological, or chemical missiles.

Terming the Arrow 3 system as a ‘high-performance offer’, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said the government plans to buy more air defence systems in the future to keep its defence forces equipped.
