The Central American country will deploy three of these aircraft in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Mali
The chargé d’affaires of the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador, Katherine Dueholm, yesterday delivered four MD Helicopters MD530F helicopters to the Salvadoran Air Force (FAS), as a donation to reinforce the work of the Armed Forces both in the field of defense and security and peacekeeping abroad, as part of the joint work with the United Nations.
The helicopters were acquired by the U.S. State Department with funding from the Global Peacekeeping Operations Initiative (GPOI), executed by U.S. South Command (Southcom).
FAS will prepare three of these teams for deployment in the Central African Republic of Mali, Africa; while the remaining helicopter will be used to train Salvadoran pilots who will soon travel to integrate peacekeeping missions.
