Lithuania; Army orders 120mm mortars from Spain

The Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania has acquired 120 mm towed mortars from the Spanish company Expal Systems with the aim of increasing the indirect fire capacity of its Armed Forces.

The operation, valued at about 9.8 million, has been closed through the Defense Material Agency. The model acquired is the 120-MX2-SM, with an effective range, according to the Ministry of Defense of the Baltic country in a note. Lithuania does not report the number of units purchased, although it details that half of the lot will arrive in principle within a year, at the end of 2023. Deliveries will be completed in two years.

The contract in addition to the mortar parts includes spare parts. Expal Systems presented the best economic offer in the tender opened by the Ministry of Defense, the statement details. The 120 mm mortar model selected by Lithuania is ready to fire in less than a minute and can be removed from the area in less than 90 seconds. It is easy to operate and maintain, with a low operating cost and is adapted to different terrains
