MAN Truck & Bus Slovenija, the local partner of Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles, transferred the vehicles.

According to Rheinmetall, the deal ‘represents sales volume in the lower two-digit million-euro range’ for the company.

Ringtausch is the German government’s equipment exchange program developed in partnership with its neighbors and NATO allies to support Ukraine against the Russian invasion.

It also involves the transfer of Soviet-era heavy equipment to Ukraine by Nato countries in receipt of surplus Western-made systems.

On 21 September 2022, German Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht signed a declaration of intent with Slovenian Defence Minister Marjan Šarec for the equipment exchange.

Following the signing, the German Ministry of Defence , the Slovenian armed forces, and Rheinmetall entered negotiations, and on 5 December an order was placed with the company.
