This vessel, valued at 5.5 million dollars, is part of a package of 13 units that the US will deliver to its partners in the region.
Costa Rica’s National Coast Guard this week received a new Metal Shark Defiant 85 coastal patrol boat, valued at $5.5 million. This is the fifth vessel of this model built by Metal Shark, of the batch of 13 agreed units, which the United States delivers to its partners in Central America. In recent years, Costa Rica has been favored with three patrol boats, also from the American manufacturer, but smaller than this Defiant 85.
This cooperation has reached out to U.S. regional partners to enhance maritime operations, including patrol, search and rescue, combating drug trafficking and smuggling, as well as illegal, unregulated, and unregulated fishing.
