The units will contribute to strengthening maritime security and the fight against transnational organised crime
The U.S. government donated three small interceptor vessels to Guatemala to combat drug trafficking and organized crime. The model of the boats or the investment was not specified, but from the images it is noticeable that they are boats equipped with outboard motors, to be operated near the sea coast or in rivers.
The vessels were destined for the Naval Base in Tilapa, San Marcos, located on the Pacific coast and bordering Mexico. The donation comes from the Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala.
