Israel Weapon Industries (IWI), a global leader in the manufacturing of small arms for military, law enforcement agencies, and governmental entities worldwide, announced on June 25, 2023, a new contract with the Israel Ministry of Defense. The agreement, signed with the Ministry’s Department of Production and Procurement – Ground Weapons Division, involves the supply of thousands more Micro-TAVOR (X95) assault rifles to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) infantry brigades.
IWI (Israel Weapon Industries) , a part of the SK Group, has been a trusted supplier for the IDF since Micro-TAVOR’s induction into service in 2006. The weapon’s bullpup configuration, characterized by an ergonomic and compact design with a long barrel, provides superior ballistics over other platforms.
The newly contracted 5.56x45mm caliber Micro-TAVOR assault rifles come with barrel lengths of 380mm and 419mm. These firearms are equipped with M-1913 Picatinny rails, which facilitate the attachment of critical accessories like sights, lights, and both visual and IR illuminators, making them ideal for contemporary warfare conditions.
This order follows IWI’s previous contracts with the IDF, which included the supply of Negev light machine guns (LMG) and 40mm grenade launchers compatible with the Micro-TAVOR rifles.
