Spain; Marines order additional 81mm mobile mortars

The program to equip the Marine Corps with mortars on vehicles is progressing apace. The Navy has commissioned the Spanish company Expal Systems a new order for 81 mm Dual Eimos on-board mortar systems valued at 8.6 million euros, taxes included.

EXPAL - Army Technology

The Navy acquired four Dual Eimos systems in December for $4.1 million, including taxes. Therefore, the newly ordered order could be around eight units. In both cases, the contract only refers to the purchase of the system. Although everything indicates that the amount also includes the integration in the vehicle, the Vamtac ST5 of the company Urovesa, and logistical support.

The Marine Corps’ plan is to acquire 18 units of the Dual Eimos system. According to the contracts published by the Navy, about a fortnight would have already been acquired. In November 2021, the Logistics Support Headquarters purchased a first batch of two Dual Eimos systems, in December 2022, another four, and in the last order, in the middle of this month of July, at least eight units, as  Valcarce, in Feindef.
