Armasuisse, the Federal Office for Defence Procurement in Switzerland, has officially entered into a contract with Defenture for the provision of the GRF (Groundforce) vehicles as part of the LAUF20 program. This contract represents a continuation of the collaboration initiated with the initial prototype delivery in 2021. The overarching objective of the LAUF20 program is to equip the Swiss Army with cutting-edge mobility capabilities, particularly focusing on the lightweight tactical and air-transportable GRF which may be designated a 4x4x4 vehicle as it is altogether a four-wheel-drive and four-wheel-steering vehicle, like Arquus’ Scarabee.
Under the LAUF20 program, a fleet of Defenture GRF vehicles, customized to meet user-specific requirements, will be delivered. The baseline GRF will incorporate a diverse array of sub-systems, including weapon systems, communication suites, various optical systems, and a mast solution.
Defenture, in its role as the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the GRF, will also serve as the system integrator, ensuring the seamless integration of all components into a comprehensive system. In this endeavor, Defenture will collaborate closely with internationally renowned OEMs, such as General Dynamics and Comrod. In addition to sub-system integrations, the vehicles will be provided in distinct bodywork configurations to cater to specific needs.
