Under the leadership of Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner, this acquisition represents an expansion from the initial purchase of 30 Pandur vehicles in 2021, which was an investment of 106 million euros ($113 million). These vehicles are produced locally.

A ministry spokesperson confirmed the imminent agreement as a “notable pact” regarding the acquisition of more Pandur armored vehicles. The details of this agreement will be revealed at a press conference next Monday, although the specifics shared with “Der Standard” have not yet been officially confirmed, they have not been contested either.

Minister Tanner praised the versatility of the Pandur vehicle series, highlighting their essential role in enhancing protected mobility. She considers this acquisition a key advancement for the nation’s protected mobility capabilities and also emphasizes the significant local economic impact. The contract benefits not only Austrian defense but also stimulates the local economy by engaging a wide range of Austrian companies, including many small and medium-sized enterprises, in the production process.

The Pandur Evolution 6×6 is an armored vehicle designed to offer an optimal combination of mobility, power, and protection. With a maximum allowed weight of 19 tons and a curb weight of 14.5 tons, this vehicle has dimensions of 6.70 meters long, 2.60 meters wide, and 2.20 meters high, enabling it to operate effectively in various environments.
