Paraguayan President Santiago Peña reported that the country has signed a letter of intent for the acquisition of six new-build Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucanos. It was reported that it is a transaction that amounts to 100 million dollars and the purchase will be financed by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).

Paraguay has historically been a user of Brazilian-built aircraft, including the Embraer EMB-326 Xavante decommissioned years ago, as well as the EMB-312 Tucano that are still part of that country’s air force. A modernization package for these aircraft was included in the negotiations, but it has not been confirmed whether the signed contract includes it or if the work will be carried out separately.
