The National Aeronautics Company (Enaer) submitted to the Ministry of National Defense of Chile a proposal to carry out a technical and financial feasibility study that allows the manufacture of drones with a view to meeting the needs of the Armed Forces and the national civilian market.
In an interview published on the Pucará Defensa portal, Enaer’s executive director, Henry Cleveland, said that talks are being held with foreign companies that have experience in the design and manufacture of this flight material.
Cleveland said that “this would allow technology transfers to be achieved and some parts to be manufactured, for which there must be a real interest in acquiring these systems, whose payload can be configured depending on the requirements of the users.”
Regarding the uses that the development of this technology would allow, the executive director of Enaer indicated that “in the civil field we see multiple applications for the mining, agricultural, forestry, energy transmission systems and several other sectors.”
Regarding the status of this initiative, Henry Cleveland explained that the Basic Investment and Engineering Study (EBI), presented to the Chilean Ministry of National Defense, “has not yet been resolved by the Joint Chiefs of Staff.”
