Argentina; Army orders two locally made air defense radars

The Argentine Government published the inter-administrative contract between the Argentine Army (EA) and the public company Invap for the acquisition of two RPA-200M military radars worth 23.3 million dollars. Once it is ratified, both parties will have 33 months to fulfill their obligations.

The contract explains that the need to incorporate new radars is due to “the high age of the long-range surveillance radars available to the Army makes it difficult to maintain them and ensure the operational capacity of the Force.”

The total amount of the contract amounts to $23,298,027, corresponding to $19.3 million for radars; one million for the simulator, electronic instruments and training courses; and three million in taxes. The contract financing method includes an advance of $4.6 million, five semi-annual instalments of $3.21 million and a final payment of $2.33 million.
