Minister Taiana held a meeting with the director of BNDES, a public financial institution in Brazil that supports export projects
The Minister of Defense, Jorge Taiana, met, during his tour of Brazil, with the director of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Nelson Barbosa, a key meeting in which they discussed the financing possibilities for the Argentine Army to complete the purchase of 156 Iveco 6×6 Guarani wheeled armored combat vehicles (VCBR).
BNDES is a Brazilian government agency whose objective is to foster the expansion of the country’s industry and infrastructure. In recent years, the entity has intensified financing actions for exports of Brazilian goods and services in projects carried out abroad.
Defence ties
In turn, Taiana held a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, José Mucio Monteiro Filho, with whom they discussed deepening relations in matters of Defense, both regional integration and productive doctrinal matters.
Both officials indicated their intention to deepen cooperation in the area of Combined Military Doctrine and the initiative to establish a Binational Joint Chiefs of Staff. In addition, they discussed the binational exercise Operation Arandú, to be held in July of this year at the General Avalos Field, in the province of Corrientes.
