Argentina and Israel have agreed to resume the modernization project of the Medium Argentine Tank (TAM).
An Argentine diplomat explained that the works will begin this year and the first modernized units will be delivered in 2026. “In December the payment scheme was agreed and the delivery plan was defined. What remained in the first quarter of the year was to renegotiate technical aspects and designate the teams that will carry out this process. The Argentine government had already invested $ 17 million as an advance.

The models that are operational today are the VCPC (Combat Vehicle Command Post), the VCTM (Mortiser / Minesweeper), the VCTP (Infantry Fighting Vehicle very similar to the German Marder), the VCA (Combat Vehicle of Artillery), the VC AMUN (to resupply artillery vehicles), the VCCDT (Combat Vehicle Fire Direction Center) and the VCLC (with multiple LAR-160 rocket launchers).
In 2010, Argentina agrees with a consortium formed by Israel Military Industries (IAI) and the companies Elbit and Tadiran to adapt 74 of these tanks to the 2C version, which integrates electronic devices of Israeli origin, such as a new sight that integrates video cameras and infrared sensors or a system to track 360-degree targets, and the prototype was launched in 2013.
