According to a PR published by IDV on July 8, 2024, the Brazilian Army, through the Army Manufacturing Directorate, has formalized an agreement with IDV to supply 420 LMV-BR 2 (Light Multirole Vehicle) units over the next decade. The initial deliveries are scheduled for 2026.
This procurement, involving the locally named “Guaicurus” vehicles, includes two variants: one with a Manual Weapon System and the other with a Remote-Controlled Weapon System (RCWS). All units will be equipped with a Command and Control (C2) system. Production will take place at IDV’s facility in Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais.
The contract represents a significant advancement in the collaboration between the Brazilian Army and IDV, contributing to the national defense industry and the strategic enhancement of the Brazilian Ground Forces. This partnership has a substantial history, with previous deliveries including 700 Guarani 6×6 amphibious armored vehicles and 32 LMV-BRs.
