Brazil aims to sell the 200-km-range Mansup ER anti-ship missile to the Chilean Navy
One of the attractions is its price, which is 20% to 30% cheaper than other missiles in that category
The company Sistemas Integrados de Alto Teor Tecnológico (Siatt) and the Brazilian Navy hope to sell to countries such as Chile, Ecuador and Peru the Mansup-ER anti-ship missile currently under development and expected to reach surface targets at a distance of up to 200 kilometers.
According to Estadao, the strategic cooperation agreement signed in September between the Brazilian Navy and the Edge Group of the United Arab Emirates, which in 2023 acquired 50% of Siatt, will allow the completion of the development of the 70-kilometer-range Mansup missile as well as its ER version that is intended to be exported to customers in South America. Africa and Asia.
According to the document, the Edge Group and Siatt will invest US$20 million to finalize the integration of the Mansup into the Brazilian Navy’s new Tamandaré-class frigates and US$100 million in the development of the Mansup-ER. In return, the Edge Group will be able to access the technology and technical data of the Mansup to produce the Mansup-ER.
The 200-kilometre-range Mansup-ER will be equipped with a Turbomachine turbine, will fly at a speed of 950 km/h and will have the capacity to carry 150 kg of explosive payload. Its characteristics will allow adaptation for integration into selected air and ground systems.
