Canada; Three runners in future fighter contest

 

 

Three runner ups for Canadian Air Force future fighter tender are the F-35, Gripen E/F and Super Hornet F/A-18E/F Block 3 aircraft, is focused on convincing decision makers that each respective solution represents the best available to replace a fleet of 88 CF-18 Hornets.

 

 

Reports have indicated that Saab requested a RfP extension in order to address outstanding security issues, though the company has not confirmed this. Boeing and Lockheed Martin have previously told Shephard they did not seek the extension.

 

 Contract award and first delivery dates of 2022 and 2025 remain unchanged.
