Chile; Army to establish new special operations command

The Chief of the General Staff of the Chilean Army, Major General Schafik Nazal, announced that the forthcoming establishment of  a Special Operations Command (Cope) as of 2021, which will unify all Army special forces units.

The creation of the Cope is part of the Strategic Development Plan to 2026 that seeks to strengthen the flexibility, versatility and interoperability of the Land Force and to project and consolidate a functional and highly available Army to develop traditional military actions and support in case of natural disasters, contributing in addition to greater efficiency in the management of internal processes.
