Colombia; Army negotiates Israeli Spyder SAM buy

The Colombian National Army is negotiating the acquisition of a short-medium range defense system, in development of its project to renew its anti-aircraft defense capabilities. In this sense, through the Headquarters of the Strategic Planning Department (CEDE5), under the command of General Ruddy Arias, the force held talks last week with the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, projecting a new meeting in the coming weeks in order to define details for the possible purchase.

For this, items of approximately 200 million dollars would have been approved, with the intention of being able to equip itself with up to four batteries (with their corresponding equipment), minimum of systems required as necessary for a coverage of points considered as strategic and identified as of possible interest for a hostile action by the Bolivarian Military Aviation of Venezuela.
