The Colombian Army (EJC) has selected the 5.56×45 millimeter Daniel Defense MK 18 RIS II rifle for its Special Forces units.
As reported, a first batch of 44 units will be acquired. The quality and design of the weapon were decisive in its choice, having also been tested by members of the special groups, in shooting demonstrations that were carried out in Colombia.
The MK 18 stands out for its muzzle device, which reduces the flash signature. It features a chrome molybdenum vanadium steel barrel coated in chrome that makes them more precise and durable, an ambi safety selector, 4/6 bolt free floating rail system, non-slip cheek welded stock with ergonomic wrist angle, QD points, Mil-Spec 1913 Picatinny rails, aluminum CNC machined handguard, being operated by low profile gas system with machined pin.
These weapons are already in service in 15 different special forces internationally. This is the first batch purchased by Colombia, and its performance will be in the real theater of operations southwest of the country.
