The Colombian soldiers will have a surveillance system that will allow them to accurately reconnoiter the terrain and the environment
The Colombian Army (EJC) — through its Air Assault Aviation Division (Davaa) — has received 25 Skydio X2D drones.
The new systems were donated by the U.S. Embassy in Colombia and its International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) section, in order to increase the protection of Colombian units engaged in illegal mining interdiction and control operations.
With the deployment of this mini-drone, the troops will have a surveillance system that will allow accurate reconnaissance of the terrain and environment in real time and will also provide situational awareness in potentially risky scenarios.
The X2D is made of a carbon fiber and magnesium (foldable) structure, measures 30 centimeters long by 14 centimeters wide and nine centimeters high, has six 4k cameras, plus a 12 MP color camera and 320×256 Flir, with a range of 35 kilometers and a range of up to ten kilometers. as well as encryption systems, and it could be deployed in one minute and 15 seconds.
