With this incorporation, the National Police has a fleet of 31 of these aircraft to combat drug trafficking.

The Colombian Government has confirmed the receipt of 12 Helicopters of the Lockheed Martin (Sikosrsky) Black Hawk UH-60A type, donated by the Government of the United States. The efforts for this acquisition began in 2019, as reported at the time by Infodefensa.com, and initially they were for ten units. The aircraft will be used to strengthen the capacities of the National Police in the fight against drug trafficking.

The Colombian Police currently has 19 units in service, employed in transport and near-ground support missions, during the course of anti-narcotics operations carried out by the Jungle Commandos of this force.

This institution has received -to date- 21 aircraft (operating 19, having lost two), of which 16 have been donated through the Narcotic Affairs Section, starting in 1999, then in 2001 and finally since 2017. The last own purchase was made in 2013.

With this donation, the Police could then operate 31 BlackHawks, thus providing ten support squads for eradication work, highlighting that these processes take place within the framework of the excellent relations that both nations maintain in defense and security, and in order to further strengthen ties on issues of cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking and other forms of transnational crime.
