Czech Republic; Record procurement budget for 2020

The Czech Republic Government has committed this year to the largest military acquisitions plan in its history. In total, it plans to make purchases worth 2,765 million euros throughout the year. Most of this amount will be used to order new infantry armor for an amount of almost 1,920 million euros. The full package, which includes assault rifles, bulletproof vests, tracking systems, short-range defense systems and self-propelled guns, exceeds the country’s total defense spending, which was 66.735 billion crowns last year (more than 2.450 million euros at the current exchange rate), according to the calculations for the year 2019 made by the Stockholm International Institute for Peace Studies (Sipri).
