During the DSEI 2023 exhibition in London, Leonardo secured a contract with the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) to equip 309 vehicles of the Royal Danish Army with advanced camera systems. The contract, valued at over £10 million (approximately €11.6 million), will enhance the capabilities of the Piranha V 8×8 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and CAESAR 8×8 self-propelled howitzer.
The camera systems are designed to provide vehicle crews and drivers with improved situational awareness, especially in challenging environments. Leonardo’s vehicle camera system features a modular, cross-platform design that includes high-resolution infrared (IR) night vision cameras, daylight cameras, user displays, and IR illuminators. The system is compliant with the UK-led Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA) standard, facilitating integration with other platform video sources and sensors.
The camera systems will be installed on multiple variants of the Piranha V vehicles, including infantry, engineer, repair, mortar, command post, and ambulance configurations. The Caesar 8×8 ART artillery platform and additional fleet spares are also covered under the contract.
