The defense is facing a historic structure in the new defense settlement. The government proposes to invest approximately 143 billion kroner in Danish defense and security over the next 10 years. It is the government’s ambition that by 2030 at the latest, Denmark meets NATO’s goal of spending two per cent. of GDP on defense and security permanently.

The government proposes that a framework settlement be concluded, where a political agreement is initially made on the overall strategic direction and the financial framework for Danish defense and security in the 10-year settlement. The more detailed, concrete capacities and initiatives must then be decided continuously in sub-agreements from autumn 2023 onwards.
