The South American country’s army will deploy its Mbombe in surveillance and control operations on its northern border
The Ecuadorian Army received the first units of its new Paramount Group MBombe Type 6×6 armored vehicle (with an olive green paint scheme). This South African-made vehicle is a 6×6 that has the capacity to carry up to 11 troops, protected by STANAG 4569 level 4 armor that allows it to withstand impacts and waves of up to 10 kilograms of IED TNT and rocket-propelled grenades of up to 50 kilograms at distances of five meters.
In this sense, this incorporation has been justified by the technical characteristics of the model, especially its protection against improvised explosive devices (IEDs), as well as against antipersonnel mines (AEIs) and unexploded ordnance (MUSE) planted on the northern border and which generate risks for the personnel deployed by this force both in border areas and in rural and urban areas.
Ecuador will deploy its Mbombe on its northern border, in surveillance and control operations in the area affected by the constant presence of Colombian organized armed groups, dissidents and recidivism of the FARC-EP.
