El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele confirmed the acquisition of at least a first batch of five Plasan SandCat armored tactical vehicles. Bukele announced that authorities will have a new armored vehicle to fight crime, after the government acquired the Plasan Yagu vehicles, a smaller model than the SandCat, but from the same Israeli manufacturer.
In addition, he stressed that, without phases 1, 3 and 4 of the Territorial Control Plan, which include the incorporation of this type of equipment, the results obtained so far in the fight against crime would be impossible.
Fleet of 50 vehicles
As it transpired, it would be a total acquisition of 50 Plasan SandCat, but they would be produced in Mexico, so they would possibly be of the Mexican version DN-XI, developed by the Military Industry of Mexico, with a license from the Israeli company.
