A team of US naval technicians completed, on December 16, the process of updating the half-life of two SAFE 33 interceptor boats of the Coast Guard of the Royal Granada Police.
The SAFE Boat Mid-Life upgrade of the two vessels, which cost one million dollars, was made possible thanks to the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program of the State Department’s Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI). , and the United States Southern Command (US Southern Command -Southcom-).
The work was carried out by technicians from SAFE Boats International, the CBSI technical assistance field team, and the US Navy Naval Sea System Command, and included: complete overhaul of the vessels, installation of new engines and the supply of a Spare parts package to ensure continuous operability. With the update, the performance of the boats is extended for six more years.
