The Jamaica Defence Force signed a contract with Metal Shark for the construction of 22 Type 36 Fearless high-speed welded aluminium interceptor boats.
The vessels will be used by the Defense Force Coast Guard for law enforcement, patrol and interdiction missions within the Caribbean island nation’s exclusive economic zone. The contract also includes operational and maintenance training for Jamaican military personnel.
The project, which began in 2018, comprises the acquisition of radars, offshore marine patrol vessels, cameras, software, hardware and other equipment for the Defence Force.
