Latvia; Army orders M109 155mm maintenance & upgrade package

Spanish based Santa Bárbara Sistemas will improve the aim of the M109 howitzers of the Army in Latvia. The company has won a contract for the tuning of this howitzer for 1.2 million euros

Latvia receives final self-propelled howitzer from Austria

The company Santa Bárbara Sistemas has been awarded a contract of the Army with a budget of 1.2 million euros -taxes included- for the maintenance of 155 mm howitzers that includes improvements in the two systems of this caliber in service in its field artillery units, the veteran self-propelled howitzerM109 A5E, recently deployed in Latvia, and the towed howitzer155/SIAC.

Half of the amount, almost half a million, will be allocated to a project for the installation of seven Sipnap (Integrated Positioning and Navigation System of the Piece) onM109 howitzers. Specifically, the company will integrate this system into six howitzers of this model deployed in the NATO mission in Latvia, plus a seventh, the prototype, of the Field Artillery Group II/11.
