Morocco; Navy orders Corvette from Spain

According to information published by the Cadena Ser on June 24, 2023, the Spanish Finance Minister María Jesús Montero announces that July 3 will mark the day for the Moroccan Avante class corvette’s steel cutting ceremony at the Navantia San Fernando shipyard.

The AVANTE family caters to a broad spectrum of patrol vessels, taking into account four diverse mission types: research, support, patrol, and combat. Moreover, it accommodates a wide array of displacements from 300 to 3,000 tonnes. From missile launchers, hydrographic vessels, and coast guard vessels to high-altitude patrol boats and combat-ready patrol vessels.

Consequently, vessels can be equipped with flight platforms for air operations, a hangar, hybrid propulsion systems, auxiliary vessels such as RHIBS, and the ability to operate multi-mission module containers. Furthermore, each ship is prepared to incorporate future equipment upgrades without the necessity for significant structural modifications.

The Avante 1800 and Avante 1400 are two distinct yet robust models in the Avante family by Navantia.
