The government of Peru has appointed Vice Admiral Luis José Polar Figari as commander general of the Peruvian Navy to replace outgoing Admiral Alberto Alcalá Luna, who has been thanked for his services to the nation and is recognized for 40 years of naval career.
Also part of the aforementioned high command, General Manuel Jesús Gómez de la Torre Araníbar has been extended the appointment as head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces for a period of one year.

Qualified in Weapons Engineering, he has followed the Basic Staff Course and the Command and General Staff Course at the Naval War College; the master’s degree in National Development and Defense at the Center for Higher National Studies (CAEN); He holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and a diploma in Human Rights from the PUCP.
