The Polish Defense Ministry has not denied or stated that it is negotiating with the Brazilian manufacturer, but has given strong indications that Embraer is in the tender
According to European military observers and media outlets, following a series of statements by the Polish Defense Ministry about the process of re-equipping its transport aviation, Poland could become the next NATO member country to acquire the KC-390 Millennium twin-engine military cargo plane, manufactured by Embraer.
The country, which has been the main foothold of military/humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the second Russian invasion began in February 2022, has an extensive rearmament program underway, with the acquisition of armored vehicles, tanks, heavy artillery and fighter jets, supplied mainly by South Korea and the United States.
Today, Poland operates old C-130E and C-130H Hercules aircraft, manufactured by Lockheed, and five others, used (ex-USAF), have been under negotiation since 2021, all of the H model, prior to the current one in production (C-130J Super Hercules). These antiquated Hercules cannot meet all of Poland’s tactical transport, troop and cargo demands, nor do they have REVO capability.
