South Korean company Hyundai Rotem recently unveiled its first live demonstration of K2 tanks in Romania. Romania has negotiated with the South Korean defense company to acquire the advanced K2 Black Panther Main Battle Tanks. This initiative, led by the Romanian Directorate General for Armaments, aims to procure approximately 300 new combat tanks to modernize and enhance the effectiveness of Romania’s armed forces.

The discussions began in July 2023 and marked a critical step in Romania’s defense strategy. The K2 Black Panther, known for its state-of-the-art technology and superior battlefield performance, was recently demonstrated live in Romania, showcasing its capabilities to Romanian military officials and defense experts.
The K2 Black Panther, developed by South Korean defense company Hyundai Rotem, entered service in 2014. It is primarily used by the Republic of Korea Army. Recently, Poland has also become a user, having signed agreements to acquire the K2 tanks to enhance its own military capabilities. Known for its cutting-edge technology and superior battlefield performance, the K2 features advanced armor protection, a 120mm smoothbore gun, and state-of-the-art fire control systems. Its hydropneumatic suspension allows for excellent maneuverability across various terrains, while its powerful engine ensures high mobility and speed.
