The advanced Russian-made Checkmate single-engine fighter jet is most likely to be designated as Su-75, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said in an interview with the RBK TV channel.
“This is a working name. Of course, we will eventually come to the traditional designation, to which we are accustomed. Most likely, it will be the Su-75. That is, if the base is taken from the Su-57, then the version will be the Su-75,” Manturov said.
According to the minister, the name Checkmate, under which the fighter was first presented at the MAKS 2021 airshow, was invented by engineers. He expressed confidence that the aircraft will be in demand on the market.
