In the future, Sotnik (Centurion) would do it, a 3rd-gen combat equipment, and Rostec is preparing to create it. It will be able to compensate the collision momentum thanks to the use of special shock-absorbing means.
The equipment is developed to replace Ratnik from 2025, the previous generation kit, 300,000 of which were delivered to Russian troops by Rostec’s Central Scientific Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIITochMash). Sotnik features light weight and increased security. The kit is based on the use of high-strength and lightweight polyethylene fiber, which means that the equipment will be fitted to the warfighter’s figure thanks to the elasticity of the material. It will not hinder movement and will allow the soldier to take additional equipment.
Sotnik external damage protection class will be significantly higher than that of its predecessors : it will be able not only to stop the splinter flying at speeds up to 670 m/s, but also to absorb the shock impulse through the use of special shock-absorbing means.
