A Spanish delegation, led by the Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Álvaro Iranzo, recently held a meeting in Riyadh with the CEO of the Saudi state company SAMI (Saudi Arabian Military Industries), Walid Abukhaled, and other directors of this company, with the objective of exploring opportunities for collaboration between the defense industries of both countries.
SAMI already has a close relationship with Spanish companies such as Navantia, which works in its shipyards in San Fernando (Cádiz) on the construction of five corvettes for the Saudi Royal Navy.
The head of Spanish diplomacy met with the Minister of Investments, Khaled Al Faleh, and with the governor of the Saudi sovereign fund, Public Investment Fund (PIF), Yasir Al Rumayyan, with whom she discussed the possibilities of increasing the Saudi investment in Spain within the framework of the Recovery Plan and using co-investment strategies.
